Voces was formed by Martyn Warren in 1987 in order to sing Renaissance choral music in the liturgical context for which it was written (primarily at Buckfast Abbey, a Benedictine monastery in Devon, England). Since then it has developed a popular series of concerts, and recorded CDs of polyphony and Gregorian chant. Singers are drawn from a 50-mile radius, chosen for their quality of voice and musicianship, which make it possible to develop a specific sound and to prepare high-quality performances with restricted rehearsal time.
